Tres Hombres: Utah Mexican Food and great drinks!

Rose Angel - Gran Centenario Hibiscus infused Reposado and Cointreau Orange Liqueur. $10

Tres Hombres is well-known throughout the Wasatch Front. For the past 28 years they've been doing what they do best, serving Mexican comfort food to the hungry masses. And they're probably your parents favorite restaurant for two reasons: generous servings and reasonable prices.

Everyone that grew up in Salt Lake will recognize that landmark sign.
The Top Shelf Margarita menu is worth the trip alone. I opted for the lovely Rose Angel, a lightly floral and dangerously drinkable thing. Tres Hombres strong suit is their margaritas and salsa.

A delicious array of salsa was enough to make me swoon. It doesn't hurt that they serve their salsa with warm, crispy tortilla chips. The fresh salsa was my absolute favorite since it was more savory than hot. For heat, the Habanero sauce (the orange one) was perfect without being blistering hot.

I started my meal with the House Bloody Mary, which was only $3.99. Munching on chips and salsa with a drink is a great weekend lunch! But there was more ..

The Mushroom Quesadilla is the Ultimate Hangover Cure. Well, that and a few drinks. It's not too cheesy or greasy, but still has the magical properties to make you feel better. It's filled with savory sauteed mushrooms, veggies and just-the-right-amount-of-cheese. The guacamole, salsa and chips rounded out the meal.

Tres Hombres is not fancy. It's refreshingly straight forward Utah Mexican Food. Settle into a booth, order a Margarita and tuck in.
