Celebrate the Harvest Zucchini Chile Soup

Picture stolen from Cosmopolitan Hippie Chef. Ha.

Last Thursday at the Union Street Depot in Salt Lake City, Utah's foodies gathered to share local tastes and libations. Celebrate the Bounty is Local First Utah's annual celebration of all things local and delicious. It's also their biggest fundraiser of the year.

Each restaurant had their own booth, offering samples of local cuisine at its finest. And yes, there were cocktails and wine. Five Wives Vodka from Ogden's Own Distillery was among the selections. "Thyme with the Wives" was a delightful, refreshing cocktail garnished with a nice, big strawberry. Unfortunately, the line for cocktails and wine was long, like really long, so I only had the one cocktail, but it was perfect.

There were many vegetarian dishes to taste from favorites like Sage's Cafe, but Laziz and Brooke who writes the gorgeous food blog, Cosmopolitan Hippie Chef stole the show with Harvest Zucchini Chile Soup. It was soupy perfection using garlicy Toum from Laziz. Comforting, bursting with fall flavor and zingy from the chiles and goat yogurt from Drake Farm (usually anything from goats creeps me out, but this was yummy) this soup was delicious. Luckily, they shared the recipe and now we can enjoy it anytime.
